πŸ”§ MythicHUD & Lunar Client Compatibility

Overview

shrimple.cc uses MythicHUD to provide custom HUD elements and displays throughout the server experience. However, players using Lunar Client may encounter issues where HUD elements fail to display correctly or don't appear at all. This guide will help you configure Lunar Client properly to ensure MythicHUD works seamlessly.

The Primary Issue: Custom Boss Bar

The main compatibility problem between MythicHUD and Lunar Client stems from Lunar Client's Custom Boss Bar feature, which conflicts with MythicHUD's rendering system. Disabling this single setting resolves most display issues.

Required Settings Configuration

1. Boss Bar Settings (CRITICAL)

This is the most important fix and should be your first step:

Steps:

  1. While in-game, press Right Shift to open the Lunar Client menu
  2. Use the search bar to find "Boss Bar"
  3. Click on the Boss Bar mod to open its settings
  4. Disable the "Custom Boss Bar" option
  5. Ensure the Boss Bar mod itself remains enabled

Important: The boss bar should still be activeβ€”you're only disabling the custom variant that conflicts with MythicHUD's rendering.

2. Performance Settings

Several performance-related settings in Lunar Client can interfere with HUD rendering. These should be adjusted to ensure proper display:

Steps:

  1. Press Right Shift to open Lunar Client menu
  2. Navigate to Settings β†’ Performance
  3. Configure the following settings:

Tile Entities: Set to Medium

  • Setting this too low prevents HUD elements from rendering properly
  • Medium provides the best balance between performance and compatibility

Tile Shadows: Set to Medium

  • Similar to Tile Entities, this affects how HUD elements are displayed
  • Low or Off settings may cause HUD elements to disappear

Entity Rendering Distance: Keep at default or higher

  • Don't set this to the minimum value
  • Some HUD elements rely on entity rendering to display correctly

HUD Caching: Consider disabling if issues persist

  • This setting limits HUD rendering to 20 frames per second
  • While it improves performance, it may cause custom HUDs to update slowly or appear laggy
  • Disable this if you notice MythicHUD elements behaving strangely

3. Module-Specific Settings

Depending on which Lunar Client module you're using (Sodium or OptiFine), additional adjustments may be necessary:

For OptiFine Module:

  1. Press ESC β†’ Options β†’ Video Settings
  2. Locate the Fast Render option
  3. Disable Fast Render

Fast Render can interfere with shader-based rendering that MythicHUD uses. While it provides performance benefits, it's incompatible with many custom HUD systems.

For Sodium Module:

Sodium doesn't include a Fast Render option, so no additional configuration is needed beyond the Boss Bar and Performance settings listed above.

4. Optional: Shader Mod Adjustments

If you're using Lunar Client's built-in shader mods, these may occasionally interfere with HUD rendering:

Potentially Problematic Mods:

  • Motion Blur
  • Menu Blur
  • Color Saturation

Resolution: If you experience persistent issues after applying the fixes above, consider temporarily disabling these visual enhancement mods to determine if they're causing conflicts.

Quick Reference Checklist

Use this checklist to quickly verify your settings are correct:

  • Custom Boss Bar is DISABLED (most important!)
  • Tile Entities set to MEDIUM
  • Tile Shadows set to MEDIUM
  • Entity Rendering Distance not set to minimum
  • HUD Caching disabled (if experiencing lag or update issues)
  • Fast Render disabled (OptiFine module only)
  • Shader mods disabled (if issues persist)

Troubleshooting

HUD Elements Still Not Appearing

If you've applied all the fixes above and MythicHUD elements still don't display:

  1. Restart your game after changing settings
  2. Verify you're on version 1.21 or compatible with the server
  3. Check resource pack acceptance - ensure you accepted the server resource pack
  4. Test without Lunar Client - try vanilla client to confirm it's a Lunar-specific issue
  5. Contact server staff for assistance

HUD Elements Appearing Incorrectly

If elements display but appear glitched or in wrong positions:

  1. Press F3 + T to reload resource packs
  2. Disable HUD Caching in Performance settings
  3. Ensure no conflicting HUD mods are enabled
  4. Check that your GUI scale is set appropriately

Performance Impact

The recommended settings above prioritize HUD compatibility over maximum performance. If you experience FPS drops:

  • The Tile Entity/Shadow settings can be carefully adjusted downward
  • However, setting them too low will break HUD rendering
  • Consider reducing other graphics settings instead (render distance, particles, etc.)
  • Lunar Client's Turbo Entities feature (enabled by default on 1.17+) should help maintain good performance

Technical Explanation

For those interested in understanding why these conflicts occur:

MythicHUD uses Minecraft's boss bar rendering system as a foundation for displaying custom HUD elements. Lunar Client's Custom Boss Bar feature modifies how boss bars are rendered, which interferes with MythicHUD's ability to properly display its elements. Additionally, certain performance optimizations in Lunar Client that reduce entity and tile entity rendering can inadvertently hide or break custom HUD components.

By configuring Lunar Client to use vanilla boss bar rendering and maintaining appropriate tile entity rendering levels, MythicHUD can function as intended while still benefiting from Lunar Client's other performance enhancements.

Still Having Issues?

If you continue experiencing problems after following this guide:

  1. Join the shrimple.cc Discord server
  2. Report the issue in the support channel with:
    • Screenshots of your Lunar Client settings
    • Description of what's not working
    • Your Minecraft version and Lunar Client version
  3. Server staff will assist you with additional troubleshooting

Remember: The single most important fix is disabling Custom Boss Bar. If you only do one thing from this guide, make it that one!
