🎣 Fishing System Guide

Overview

shrimple.cc features an enhanced fishing system that transforms fishing from a simple activity into an engaging progression experience with custom fish, unique currency, special enchantments, and competitive tournaments. This guide will help you understand everything from catching your first custom fish to mastering advanced augments and dominating fishing tournaments.

Whether you're looking to earn money, level up your fishing skills, or compete against other players, the fishing system offers something for everyone while maintaining the cozy, casual-friendly atmosphere that defines shrimple.cc.

What You Need to Know

The Basics

Fishing on shrimple.cc works just like vanilla Minecraft—cast your rod into water and wait for a bite. However, alongside regular fish, you'll catch custom fish in six different rarity tiers that can be sold for money, gutted for Entropy (fishing currency), or turned in for quest rewards.

Important Concepts

Custom Fish Tiers: Fish come in six rarities—Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum, and Mythical. Higher tiers are rarer but more valuable.

Entropy: The special currency used exclusively for fishing upgrades, crafting augments, and unlocking advanced features. Cannot be spent elsewhere.

Fishing Level: Separate from other skills. You level up by catching custom fish, which unlocks augments, totems, and skill upgrades.

Augments: Custom enchantments (on top of other custom enchantments) specifically for fishing rods that enhance various aspects of fishing.

Nation Benefits: Don't forget that your nation (Port Royale, Shrimpton, or Coral Crown) provides unique fishing bonuses (Still a WIP)!

Getting Started Requirements

  • A fishing rod (any will work, but enchanted rods are recommended)
  • Vanilla enchantments help: Lure, Luck of the Sea, and Mending make fishing more efficient
  • Patience: The system can be complex, but rewards dedicated fishers

Your First Fishing Session

Step 1: Start Fishing

  1. Craft or obtain a fishing rod
  2. Add vanilla enchantments if possible (Lure III, Luck of the Sea III recommended)
  3. Find any body of water
  4. Cast your line and wait for a bite
  5. Watch for custom fish in addition to vanilla fish!

Pro Tip: Different biomes contain different fish. Check /fish codex to see where specific fish spawn.

Step 2: Check Your Progress

After catching a few fish, check your stats:

/fish stats

This shows:

  • Your current Fishing Level
  • Total Entropy balance
  • XP progress to next level
  • Fish caught by tier
  • Various other statistics

Step 3: Sell Your First Fish

Make some money from your catches:

/fish shop
  • Browse your caught fish in the shop GUI
  • Click fish to sell them for diamonds
  • One fish per click will be sold
  • Note: A featured fish rotates regularly and sells for bonus money!

Important Decision: Should you sell or gut? Fish can be sold for money OR gutted for Entropy. Consider your priorities before selling everything!

Step 4: Learn About Entropy

Entropy is gained by:

  • Catching custom fish (small amounts automatically)
  • Gutting fish at /fish gut
  • Completing deliveries
  • Winning or participating in tournaments
  • Redeeming Entropy Crystals (items worth 10,000 entropy)

What Entropy Does:

  • Crafts augments (custom rod enchants)
  • Upgrades delivery system
  • Upgrades fishing skills
  • Activates and upgrades fishing totems
  • Removes augments from rods (25,000 entropy)

🥇 Gold (Rare)

  • Less common finds
  • Fishing XP: 300 per catch
  • Solid value for selling or gutting

💎 Diamond (Very Rare)

  • Significant catches
  • Fishing XP: 700 per catch
  • High value, great for Entropy

🌟 Platinum (Extremely Rare)

Fish Codex: Your Encyclopedia

Access the codex with /fish codex to view:

  • All available fish organized by tier
  • Required biomes for each fish
  • Catch conditions (day/night, weather, etc.)
  • First player to catch each fish species
  • Your personal catch history

Pro Tip: Use the codex to plan fishing trips. If you need specific fish for deliveries, check where they spawn!

Entropy: The Fishing Currency

What Is Entropy?

Entropy is the specialized currency that powers the entire fishing progression system. Unlike diamonds or your nation's currency, Entropy is earned exclusively through fishing activities and spent exclusively on fishing upgrades.

Earning Entropy

Primary Methods:

  1. Catching Custom Fish - Small amounts automatically upon catching
  2. Gutting Fish - Convert caught fish into Entropy at /fish gut
  3. Completing Deliveries - Major Entropy rewards for quest completion
  4. Tournament Participation - All participants earn bonus Entropy
  5. Entropy Crystals - Items worth 10,000 Entropy that can be redeemed

Gutting Station (/fish gut):

  • Place fish in the gutting menu
  • Click to convert them into Entropy
  • Destroys the fish permanently
  • Amount varies by fish tier and augments

Strategic Consideration: Should you sell fish for money or gut them for Entropy? This depends on:

  • Your current financial needs
  • Whether you need Entropy for augments or upgrades
  • Delivery requirements (keep fish you might need!)
  • Current fish market prices

Spending Entropy

Major Uses:

  • Crafting Augments: 35,000 - 125,000 per augment
  • Removing All Augments: 25,000 (returns augments to inventory)
  • Delivery Upgrades: Various costs for capacity, speed, efficiency
  • Skill Tree Upgrades: Improves various fishing aspects
  • Totem Activation & Upgrades: Passive fishing bonuses
  • Withdrawing Entropy Crystals: 10,000 Entropy becomes tradeable item

Pro Tip: Early on, save Entropy for your first augments. Later, balance between augments and skill upgrades.

Augments: Custom Rod Enchantments

What Are Augments?

Augments are custom enchantments specifically designed for fishing rods. Unlike vanilla enchantments, they're crafted using special ingredients and Entropy, then applied to your rod through a special menu.

Key Facts:

  • Augments can only be applied to fishing rods
  • Multiple different augments can be on one rod simultaneously
  • Same augment can be applied multiple times to increase its level
  • Augments can be removed for 25,000 Entropy (returned to inventory)
  • Each augment has a maximum level
  • Augments can be traded between players

Viewing Augments

Use /fish augments to browse:

  • All available augments
  • Required Fishing Level to craft each
  • Exact ingredient recipes
  • Entropy cost to craft
  • Maximum level for each augment
  • What each augment does

Crafting Augments

Requirements:

  1. Sufficient Fishing Level
  2. Required Entropy balance
  3. Exact ingredient amounts
  4. A cauldron filled with water
  5. A fishing rod to click the cauldron

Crafting Steps:

  1. Fill a cauldron with water
  2. Gather all required ingredients
  3. Drop exact amounts into the cauldron
  4. Left-click the cauldron with your fishing rod
  5. The augment drops as an item

Common Mistakes:

  • Wrong ingredient amounts (must be exact!)
  • Insufficient Fishing Level
  • Not enough Entropy
  • Clicking with wrong item

Once you have an augment item:

  1. Open /fish augment
  2. Place your fishing rod in the first slot (left side)
  3. Place the augment item in the second slot (right side)
  4. Click the green glass pane to confirm
  5. Your rod is returned with the augment applied!

Leveling Augments: Apply the same augment multiple times to increase its level and effectiveness.

Removing Augments:

  1. Open /fish augment
  2. Place your rod in the first slot
  3. Click the TNT block to remove ALL augments
  4. Costs 25,000 Entropy
  5. All augments return to your inventory

The Fishing Skill Tree

How Skills Work

Every time you gain a Fishing Level, you earn 1 Skill Point that can be invested in the skill tree to enhance various fishing aspects.

Access with /fish skills

Two Types of Skills

Upgradable Skills (1 Point Each):

  • Can be upgraded multiple times
  • Each upgrade costs 1 Skill Point
  • Diminishing returns as you upgrade
  • Balance your points across skills early on

One-Time Skills (15 Points Each):

  • Unlock powerful passive effects
  • Single purchase, permanent benefit
  • Effects scale with your Fishing Level
  • Expensive but transformative

Skill Reset

For 50,000 Entropy, you can reset all skill points and reallocate them. Useful for:

  • Correcting early mistakes
  • Adapting to new playstyle
  • Optimizing for tournaments or deliveries
  • Experimenting with different builds

Skill Strategy

Early Game (Levels 1-20):

  • Spread points evenly across upgradable skills
  • Don't rush one-time skills yet
  • Focus on general improvements

Mid Game (Levels 20-40):

  • Start specializing based on your goals
  • Consider your first one-time skill purchase
  • Balance entropy production and XP gain

Late Game (Level 40+):

  • Unlock multiple one-time skills
  • Max out key upgradable skills
  • Optimize for your preferred activities

Deliveries: Fishing Quests

What Are Deliveries?

Deliveries are repeatable quests that require you to catch and turn in specific custom fish. They're one of the best sources of Entropy and valuable rewards.

How It Works

  1. Open /fish scales
  2. Place fish in the weighing area
  3. Select a risk level from the right side

  • Failure - Fish sell value decreases

When to Use Scales

Good Situations:

  • High-value fish you're selling anyway
  • Trophy augment equipped (increases success chance)
  • You need extra money urgently

Avoid Scaling:

  • Fish needed for deliveries
  • Fish you plan to gut for Entropy
  • When you can't afford the loss

Pro Tip: Stack identical fish first—they'll all be weighted the same value, maximizing efficiency.

Tournaments: Competitive Fishing

How Tournaments Work

Tournaments occur periodically, lasting 10 minutes each. Four different tournament types test various fishing skills.

Participation:

  • Tournaments are announced server-wide
  • Simply catch a qualifying fish to enter
  • Top 3 players win significant rewards
  • ALL participants earn bonus Entropy

Tournament Types

1. Most Fish

  • Catch the highest total number of custom fish
  • Any tier counts
  • Catch just 1 fish to enter
  • Rewards quantity over quality
